On the ball
Trainee auditors from Maclntyre Hudson proved they were on the ball – braving injuries and bad weather to win through to a football final.
The seven-strong squad – who were taking part in a five-a-side tournament with the Chartered Accountants Student Society of London (CASSL) – battled against 15 other teams, playing seven 10-minute games in just one afternoon.
Despite two players having to retire early due to injury, and the team’s manager restricted to the sidelines with a broken ankle from the previous CASSL tournament, the MacIntyre Hudson team played their socks off – sadly being pipped by the final whistle to come a close second with a final score of 2-0.
Team player Simon Fennell, from the North London office, said: “We survived two injuries and a round of penalties to get through to the final, and had a lot of support from our team manager, Steve Hemmings, who ranted and raved at us from the sidelines!
“We have improved with every tournament, so at the next one in June, we want to walk away winners.”
The MacIntyre Hudson football squad played against Daly Hogget & Co accountants in the final, at the Mill Hill Power League pitch in North West London.
