‘Bridge the gap between business and education’

Heather Rayner
St. Michaels
School Achievement AwardHeather Rayner, training manager at the North London office of MacIntyre Hudson Chartered Accountants and Business Advisors (pictured) represented the firm at a recent one day school conference which was attended by a number of local and national employers.

One hundred 15-year-old students, all keen to express themselves, had the opportunity to discuss employment issues such as what makes an ideal employee and how to deal with the first day.

The various employer representatives completed a variety of exercises with the students. Heather’s role was to introduce them to the concepts of key skills in the workplace and to provide an opportunity to work closely with a representative of the working world.

There were discussions, role plays, team exercises and presentations. Heather was very impressed with the skills and motivation of the students and she found the day quite exhausting but great fun.

One of St Michaels’ students will be joining the MacIntyre Hudson North London office for two weeks work experience in June, along with other students from schools in Barnet.

St. Michael's is a Voluntary Aided three-form entry Catholic secondary grammar school for girls.
