Services: Case study
Proper processes reverse bad practice
Client Profile:
Profile: PLC
Sector: Dental pharmaceutical
Turnover: £6m
Personnel: 4 directors, 15 employees
Background:
High staff turnover (62% in the previous year) having a knock-on effect on this company’s business prospects. Like many small or medium-sized organisations, there was no dedicated HR resource to identify and address the reasons.
Solution:
Working as their outsourced HR function, we introduced new personnel processes and tightened up some existing methods. This led to new contracts and the introduction of new policies and procedures, review and re-design of job descriptions and a programme to enhance management contact with employees. This included probationary period interviews, exit interviews, support and counselling sessions and disciplinary procedures.
Outcome:
The improvement was almost instantaneous as clearer policies led to better communications while grievance procedures kept management in touch with their staff who now had a chance to talk about their frustrations. With the right people in the right role, there was improved morale, reduced turnover and cost savings in recruitment and training.
