Background:

This family-owned metal fabrication company had called in our business solutions consultants who identified its future success would depend to a large extent on improving the performance of their employees. As a consequence, we were asked to look at several areas including contracts of employment, policies and procedures and an appraisal performance monitoring system.

Solution:

Working closely with the client, we designed a programme to deliver effective management systems and successfully introduced it into the business over a period of six months.

Outcome:

Work progress can now be tracked, leading to greater efficiency from a streamlined workforce. The business now operates within the current legal framework, and best practice guidelines were introduced to encourage consistency in management of employees; poor performers have been actively managed out of the business. Communication has improved, both staff and management finding a greater sense of purpose and commitment through working with clear terms and conditions for the first time. A greater sense of purpose and reward has improved staff morale.
