Corporate Finance Deal Announcement: National Energy Services
We are very pleased to announce the completion of the sale of Milton Keynes-based National Energy Services (“NES”) to Kingfisher plc. Our corporate finance team, headed by partner Laurence Whitehead and assisted by Craig Chamberlain and Brad Agnew, advised the vendors on the sale. Specialist tax advice was also provided by colleagues Rachel Salter and Gareth Peters. Our team’s track record and experience were paramount as we provided specialist advice needed by the vendors to enable them to take the deal forward successfully to completion. Incumbent London-based corporate lawyers Bates Wells & Braithwaite, led by partner Mark Tasker, provided legal support to the vendors.
About NES and Kingfisher
NES is the UK’s home for independent energy assessors and low carbon building professionals. For over 20 years NES has championed the benefits of energy certificates for buildings. These help cut energy use and turn wasteful carbon-emitting buildings into ones with lower running costs and reduced environmental impact. NES services include training and qualifications for energy assessors, accreditation schemes for energy assessors and home inspectors, open courses and CPD for energy professionals, energy assessment software, home surveying software, stock profiling, as well as consultancy, research and project management. Kingfisher is an international retail business with 860 stores in eight countries and approximately 80,000 employees. It is estimated that nearly six million people visit Kingfisher stores every week. The group’s brands include B&Q, Castorama, Brico Dépôt, Screwfix and Koçtaş. The purchase of NES will serve to accelerate Kingfisher’s growth plans, bringing strong expertise in the fast-growing energy efficiency sector.
