About MHA

MHA MacIntyre Hudson has been a member of MHA since it was founded in 2010 as a national association of independent accountancy firms. MHA member firms are carefully selected; they have a strong regional reputation for exceptional client service, and industry and sector knowledge. 

The idea behind the association is that member firms collaborate at every level, sharing knowledge and best practice to provide clients with the best service possible. 

MHA consists of eight member firms, with over 50 offices across England, Scotland and Wales, all sharing common values and goals. Each firm is characterised by its strong reputation in its region for providing accountancy and business advice to entrepreneurial and start-up businesses.

Elaine Shoesmith

Partner

Elaine has more than 35 years experience  in the accountancy profession latterly as owner of Shoesmiths Chartered Accountants prior to joining Macintyre Hudson LLP as a full partner  following its merger in April 2016.

Elaine specialises in accounts, audit and advisory services for corporate owner managed businesses and foreign subsidiaries. Elaine has worked with a wide variety of businesses over her career including manufacturing, engineering, IT and renewables.

Elaine qualified initially with Robson Rhodes in Birmingham and then joined their London office.  After which a spell as a management accountant for an international logistics company gave her the necessary experience and background to then set up Shoesmiths Chartered Accountants which she ran successfully for 25 years . Clients ranged from high tech start ups to growing established SMEs.

Her experience and knowledge has enabled her to provide advice on more specialised areas including taxation across all sectors , taxation lead restructuring, management buy-outs , inheritance tax and succession planning. Her strengths lie in building close relationships with her clients , understanding their needs and working closely with them throughout their business cycle .

Mike Brown

Partner

Most of Mike's time is spent advising his clients. These include owner-managed businesses, subsidiaries of overseas companies and UK companies with overseas interests. Mike aims to understand his clients' objectives and help them achieve these. His experience includes businesses with turnover in the range £100m to £200m. His main sectors of expertise are engineering, property and construction and food.

Mike enjoys seeing the world and meeting people. He has spent a lot of time in USA watching his son perform on stage. He is a keen supporter of the local rugby club, Northampton Saints and in his spare time a member of Rotary in Northampton. Mike plays golf occasionally but not very well.

Stephanie Bellamy-Adams

Restructuring and Recovery Manager

Stephanie joined MHA MacIntyre Hudson in September 2018 as a Restructuring and Recovery Manager in our London office. Stephanie specialises in personal insolvency with over 10 years’ experience.

Stephanie works with individuals facing financial difficulty to provide advice, seek resolutions and to guide them through the various insolvency options.

John Douglass

Tax Director

John joined the firm in 1986 following five years with the Inland Revenue. He qualified as a Chartered Tax Adviser in 1994 and became a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners in 2004.

He advises on a broad range of taxation matters concerning both UK and non-UK domiciled individuals. 

John is particularly pro-active in assisting those coming to work in the UK and recommends taking early advice, preferably before arrival in the UK, to ensure that financial affairs are structured to maximize the tax breaks available during the initial stages of residency in the UK.
