Laurence Whitehead

Partner

Laurence heads up the firm's award-winning corporate finance lead advisory team. Laurence and his team have been recognised at  a number of M&A award events over recent years, including the Insider Dealmaker Awards in 2015, 2013, 2011 and 2009, The Game Changer Awards in 2017, The Corporate International Global Awards in 2016, The British Accountancy Corporate Finance Awards in 2015, The M&A Finance Awards in 2015, The Finance Monthly Dealmaker of the Year Awards in 2015 and the AI Corporate Finance Awards in 2015.  Laurence has also been awarded the CF designation by the ICAEW Corporate Finance Faculty in recognition of his M&A expertise.

He is well connected in the corporate finance world, having previously been employed for a number of years at one of the "Big 4" firms where he qualified as a Chartered Accountant and became a Member of the Chartered Securities Institute.  During this time, Laurence also spent several years working on assignments in Russia and the Middle East, as well as working on private equity deals for over a year as a member of that firm’s London-based Private Equity Team. 

Laurence’s main areas of specialism include private equity, corporate acquisitions & disposals, finance raising, management buyouts, business valuations and M&A strategic planning.

Glyn Edwards

VAT Director

Glyn is a VAT Director based at our Leicester and Birmingham offices. Glyn’s VAT career started with H.M.Customs and Excise in 1989 and he spent seven years in the Department before moving to consultancy.

His specialisms include land & property; the not-for-profit sector, health and agriculture. He is also a part of MHA MacIntyre Hudson’s market leading motor team. He is passionate about making  VAT understandable to clients and always aims to seek solutions which work for a business as well as being compliant with the complexities of VAT regulations.

Glyn has an enviable record in VAT litigation and dispute resolution representing clients in Tribunal and Alternative Dispute Resolution as well as instructing barristers in leading VAT cases.

He is a chartered tax advisor and a member of the CIOT’s Dispute Resolution Group.

Steve Tebbutt

Tax Director

Steve joined MHA MacIntyre Hudson in 2007 and became Tax Director in 2017. Steve is comfortable advising clients of all sizes on corporate and personal tax matters, with his main focus being owner managed businesses with whom he works to provide bespoke tax planning solutions. In particular, Steve’s expertise covers mergers & demergers, acquisitions & MBOs, exit & remuneration planning. Steve has clients in a number of industries but some of his largest clients are in the construction and real estate industry where he has developed great experience.

Steve provides focused and clear tax advice that fits with his clients’ commercial objectives, and prides himself on providing great service and going the extra mile.

Outside of work, Steve enjoys spending time with his young family, football, and keeping fit with running and the gym.

Jose Antonio De Mayne Hopkins

Technical Director ESG

On the 06 April 2022, Jose was appointed to MHA MacIntyre Hudson as Sustainability & ESG Technical Director lead responsible of supporting the development of the firms internal and external ESG strategy and to continue to support a wider range of business and industries in how to translate and quantify Sustainability & ESG related risks and opportunities.

Jose Hopkins is a Sustainability and ESG risk assessment expert with a high technical understanding of sustainability, ESG, accounting and emissions reporting standards. Jose experiences includes working with large listed companies in the Agricultural, Technology, Renewable and Mining sectors (biggest copper mine in the world). 

Jose is extremely passionate in raising awareness on the topic and supporting organisations understand how to develop a resilient Sustainability & ESG strategy.

Jose has strong technical knowledge and understanding of the current regulatory requirements from the Task Force of Climate Related Disclosures (“TCFD”) guidelines. Jose is involve in attending regulatory roundtables on net zero disclosures and responsible of performing an annual independent risk assessment and disclosure gap analysis to challenge the net zero/TCDF disclosures for companies captured by the BEIS and premium listing rule requirements on mandatory climate disclosures. This gives Jose insight as to the readiness of TCFD framework implementation and climate disclosures for each sector considered "exposed" by the TCFD.

Jose has extensive experience of presenting and interacting with senior stakeholders and leading global audit engagements (managing a top 5 agricultural company for more than 6 years) and developing/coaching teams, managing budgets, and demonstrated ability to juggle competing priorities and Jose feels comfortable attending and presenting at live webinars/events to help raise awareness.
