Life at the Colchester office

 

Being one of the smaller offices at MHA MacIntyre Hudson with around 30 members of staff, our office is a friendly and welcoming environment where the whole team are approachable and regularly support each other. We are an open plan office with an open-door policy, making communication and teamwork one of our biggest strengths. The office atmosphere is fun and sociable, ensuring that new team members easily integrate and form strong friendships.

The Colchester office appreciates a regular flow of new clients from local businesses, schools and charities which strengthens our position in the local market and the not for profit sector. We specialise in the not for profit sector and as an office have an interest in helping to support local causes. We also work with a number of London based companies due to Colchester's convenient location within the commuter belt, adding to the continued growth of our office. Increasingly we are getting involved with cross-office projects, working with our colleagues in London and more globally at Baker Tilly International.

We are looking to welcome new team members who are motivated and keen to overcome challenges, meet new clients and people, and want to help us grow the local business.

Tax Manager

As a Chartered Tax Adviser, Carly specialises in suggesting pro-active tax strategies and solutions to business owners, in addition to advising clients on IHT, Trusts and Estates.  Upon completion of her training, Carly moved into the Agriculture sector where she has developed a keen interest in helping farming families to resolve the sensitive issue of succession.  Her thorough approach, attention to detail and creative thought process has assisted many faming families through this potentially delicate time.

Nigel Steele

Business Services Manager

Nigel joined MHA MacIntyre Hudson after working for Grant Thornton for 32 years in November 2016. He joined as a Business Services Manager and is currently looking after a portfolio of clients in the owner managed business sector and prepares final year end accounts and monthly management accounts.  He also looks after a number of not for profit clients, working men’s clubs and Charities.

He enjoys all sports but in particular cricket, last season he coached the undefeated East Northants District Under 13's.  Nigel is currently coaching the Under 13's and playing for Rushden Town 3rd's alongside his 14 year old son.  Nigel is a avid American Football fan and has been to Wembley many times to watch the NFL games.

Partner

Alicia has been a partner at MHA MacIntyre Hudson leading a mixed portfolio of audit and advisory work since 2017, having joined the firm in 2007.

While Alicia works across a range of sectors including leisure, fashion and design, her core sectors are real estate and technology where she enjoys supporting developing businesses with both compliance and their longer term plans.

The majority of Alicia’s clients are owner managed businesses – from early stage entrepreneurs finding their feet, to scale up businesses with external funders, right through to well established groups thinking about succession planning. Alicia has a passion for working with business owners and managers that are keen to drive and grow their business. While supporting her client base Alicia has had the opportunity to work with our BTI counterparts around the world and is well used to the challenges of expanding overseas and remote working across differing cultures and time zones.

In addition to corporate clients, Alicia works with a portfolio of Academy Schools across the North London and Hertfordshire region, assisting with reporting and looking to provide support in managing the complex financial issues currently presented to academies.

Alicia is a Staff Engagement Partner for the Southern Region and liaises with various teams to maximise retention and recruitment of staff. This includes participating in events outside the firm to support school leavers and graduates looking to explore a career in finance.

Justin Moss

Justin acts for a wide range of clients including global businesses, UK subsidiaries of multi-national groups as well as privately owned family businesses. Justin ensures his clients’ personal and business compliance needs are well managed and that future goals and aspirations are at the forefront of strategic planning, which enables clients to get on with running and growing their business. Justin keeps in regular contact to share ideas and to keep clients fully aware of matters related to the audit as well as any industry or legislative issues that may have an impact, to ensure he adds value at all stages. 
 
In addition to providing audit and general business advice, Justin’s specialism is in Corporate Finance, helping clients with fund raisings, acquisitions and disposals, business valuations, share ownership structures and financial due diligence during deals.

Justin is part of the MHA MacIntyre Hudson award-winning Corporate Finance team, and works alongside Cameron Cook, Head of Transaction Services, on transactions and valuations.
