Alison Horner, Indirect Tax Partner, MHA

Alison is a Chartered Tax Adviser who works closely with her clients across the firm to manage the complexities of VAT and to identify VAT savings and opportunities. As Indirect Tax Partner she has worked with the firm for 15 years and previously worked for Reuters, Deloitte and started her VAT career with HMRC. Alison and her team aim to provide commercial solutions to the issues facing our clients, who are from all types of sectors. In particular Alison enjoys advising on property and construction matters and international trade.

Jonathan Main, Indirect Tax Partner, MHA

Jonathan joined MHA as a Partner in 2018. He qualified with the Chartered Institute of Taxation as a chartered tax adviser in 1994 and as an accredited mediator with the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution in 2016. To ensure that we continue to provide the best advice to our clients following the UK’s departure from the EU, Jonathan is currently studying for the Level 3 Certificate in International Trade with The Institute of Export & International Trade. He has more than thirty years’ experience of indirect taxation, including time spent as a Partner with both Arthur Andersen and PwC. During his time with PwC, Jonathan was Senior Partner for PwC’s Liverpool office.

Andrew Thurston, Customs Duty Manager, MHA

Andrew joined MHA as our Customs Duty Consultant in October 2019. He joined from HMRC where he gained valuable experience liaising with all sizes and sectors of companies within the UK by facilitating customs procedures and assessing compliance. During his 15 years working in HMRC Andrew audited companies across sectors from retail, manufacturing and exporters who are involved in the supply of goods across global supply chains. Andrew works closely with clients across the Baker Tilly International Network to manage the complexities of customs regimes and identify potential opportunities for supply chain improvements and duty savings.
