SouthTech - Ecrebo
At the check-out you receive a personalised paper receipt, coupon, or email or text offering you money off another product, one that you actually want to buy.
That’s the one-to-one marketing concept behind OnPoint, a tool that enables retailers to use their point of sale systems to convey marketing messages, as opposed to merely processing transactions. Ecrebo, the company providing this proprietary software, already have household names like M&S, Dixons Carphone and Waitrose as customers.
When the business launched in 2010, the first use of the technology was to enable retailers to print targeted offers on paper receipts. But the same technology can now also send an offer to your email or mobile phone or mobile wallet.
Redemption or otherwise of such offers can be tracked via unique barcodes. “We can follow the whole customer journey and compare the results of different marketing messages,” says chief executive David Buckingham.
