Alison Horner, Indirect Tax Partner at MHA MacIntyre Hudson, says while the 12-month delay to the introduction of the VAT domestic reverse charge for the construction sector is a welcome relief, it’s very frustrating for the businesses which spent time and money to properly prepare.
Andrew is part of the Eastern Region team and specialises in audit, assurance and financial reporting. Andrew's portfolio includes a number of large international groups with listed parents, as well as UK owner managed businesses.
Andrew has been at MacIntyre Hudson since 2005 and is the firm’s Audit Compliance Partner and a member of the firm’s Technical Experts Group. In this role, Andrew ensures the firm’s audit quality as he reviews the firm’s high-profile clients and more complex audits. Andrew leads the firm’s audit innovation project – responsible for bringing Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence into our audit procedures.
Andrew is also the firm’s Data Protection Officer and heads up the GDPR team.
Alison is a Chartered Tax Adviser who works closely with her clients across the firm to manage the complexities of VAT and to identify VAT savings and opportunities.
As VAT Partner she has worked with the firm for 15 years and previously worked for Reuters, Deloitte and started her VAT career with HMRC. Alison and her team aim to provide commercial solutions to the issues facing our clients, who are from all types of sectors. Alicia is a partner in the London office, managing a portfolio of clients. Alicia joined the firm as a graduate trainee at the North London office in 2007, qualifying as a chartered accountant in 2010. Alicia’s key focus is working with owner managed businesses across London and south Hertfordshire, from new start-ups to long standing companies.
Alicia’s clients are a range of shapes and sizes from sole traders to £10m turnover groups, spanning a number of industries – including technology, construction and financial services. She ensures that compliance needs are efficiently dealt with to allow time to identify opportunities to support clients as they grow. Recent special projects include providing a detailed support service to a client selling a division of their business, creating forecasts and reporting systems for clients looking to grow their business and assisting clients with transitions to cloud based software. In addition to working with owner managed businesses, Alicia looks after a portfolio of Academy Schools in the area.
As well as her client facing work, Alicia takes a keen interest in internal staff recruitment and development, including supporting school leavers and graduates with advice on applying for roles within accountancy and putting together CVs. Jay joined MHA MacIntyre Hudson in July 2015 following the merger with Birmingham based MHA Bloomer Heaven. For over 25 years, Jay has built up a reputation for specialist tax advice to private companies and individuals. He is an experienced corporate financier and provides clients with strategic corporate finance advice, particularly targeted to entrepreneurs and owner managed businesses. Jay has a particular focus on advising and undertaking tax planning for property developers and investors.
