On October 1st 2019 HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) are introducing one of the most significant changes to how VAT is applied to construction services in 30 years.
John joined MHA MacIntyre Hudson in March 2008 as an audit partner and acts for a variety of corporate clients including companies involved in construction and real estate, financial services (including FCA regulated companies), media and entertainment (including book and music publishers), professional partnerships, and the not-for-profit sector.
He has a number of Technology clients, particularly start-ups and growing companies, advising them on a range of issues. He has also assisted with a number of successful Technology Strategy Board applications for funding.

An employment tax specialist, Gordon started his tax career with HMRC spending 8 years as part of a special investigation unit before moving across the divide to PwC in 1997. He later moved into mid-tier, picking up a “Best Tax Team Award” in 2010 working alongside Chris Blundell at Mazars.
More recently, Gordon has acted as an in-house consultant for a number of businesses, thus gaining experience from all three sides of the HMRC-Advisor-Business triangle. He has worked across a number of sectors, including education, property, IT, retail, banking, public sector and not-for-profit and has extensive experience of handling negotiations with HMRC.
Outside the office, Gordon is a season-ticket holder at West Ham United and is deputy editor of the popular West Ham website kumb.com, in which capacity he is often invited on to podcasts, tv and radio programmes, usually when the producers cannot find anyone famous to talk to.Get in touch with Gordon Thrower
Andrew is part of the Eastern Region team and specialises in audit, assurance and financial reporting. Andrew's portfolio includes a number of large international groups with listed parents, as well as UK owner managed businesses.
Andrew has been at MacIntyre Hudson since 2005 and is the firm’s Audit Compliance Partner and a member of the firm’s Technical Experts Group. In this role, Andrew ensures the firm’s audit quality as he reviews the firm’s high-profile clients and more complex audits. Andrew leads the firm’s audit innovation project – responsible for bringing Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence into our audit procedures.
Andrew is also the firm’s Data Protection Officer and heads up the GDPR team.
Andros joined MacIntyre Hudson in November 1995 as a qualified Chartered Accountant. He has worked as a portfolio manager since September 2000.
As a senior member of the team, Andros has developed the expertise and experience that comes from working on a diverse and varied portfolio, which ranges from large international groups to SMEs. His experience crosses many sectors, with special interest in the property and construction sector. Andros graduated with a BA (Hons) in Economics and became a fellow (FCA) in 2005.
In his spare time, Andros has an interest in politics, finance and enjoys travelling and reading.
