Our team is dedicated to providing audit and other assurance services within the financial services sector to investment businesses and funds. 

Years of experience in the industry has given us specialist knowledge of investment structures and strategies, as well as audit, accounting and regulatory requirements. Coupled with commitment to deadlines and client service, this experience is applied for the benefit of our clients.

Investment funds

The audit of financial statements is key to regulation of investment funds, both onshore in the UK and Ireland, and offshore in the Cayman Islands and elsewhere. We work with our clients and their fund administrators across the globe to meet the regulators’ deadlines.

We have experience of all types of fund investment strategy and structure and the capability to re-price quoted investment portfolios. We work through the various time zones using our combined London and Cayman team.

Peter Abbott

Expatriate Tax Manager

Peter joined MHA MacIntyre Hudson in January 2019 as Expatriate Tax Manager working within the Human Capital Advisory service line.

Peter is a member of the Association of Taxation Technicians (ATT) and has over ten years of experience working in tax, with a focus on expatriate tax and global mobility. Having worked previously at EY and Deloitte, Peter has worked with many different clients of various sizes, from private clients and small to medium businesses to large, international corporations, helping them on a range of advisory and compliance issues.

Sue Rathmell

VAT Director

Sue is an Indirect Tax specialist with more than 25 years’ experience of VAT, Insurance Premium Tax, excise and customs duties. She joined MHA MacIntyre Hudson in April 2017 and heads up the indirect tax services in the Kent region. 
 
Sue spent 5 years as in-house Indirect Tax Manager at Saga plc. Before that Sue worked for a Big 4 firm in London and in Central Europe and initially she worked for HMRC. Sue is a Chartered Tax Advisor.
 
With experience with over 50’s tour operator Saga under her belt, Sue is a travel VAT specialist, helping tour operators understand the Tour Operators’ Margin Scheme (known as TOMS) which calculates how much VAT is due on holidays. TOMS is also used in the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Events) world.  
 
Outside the office, Sue enjoys travelling, particularly island hopping in Greece in search of the perfect beach and the perfect taverna.

Gavin Davis

Partner

Gavin joined MHA MacIntyre Hudson in June 2018 and is the Partner who leads our Technology Advisory Services practice. He joined the firm from BDO LLP where he led the technology consultancy practice for more than five years. Gavin has more than 35 years of experience in the IT industry and, besides running his own IT consultancy business for ten years, has worked for some of the worlds largest IT companies including; Fujitsu, Dell, Capita, Ricoh and Atos.

As well as a formal training in Electronic Engineering, Gavin holds several industry qualifications including; MCSE, PRINCE2, ITIL and CISM. In previous roles Gavin has developed global IT consulting methodologies, delivered (and recovered) several large high-profile IT projects as well as managing large teams of consultants, engineers and project managers.

Technology Advisory Services provides a range of services to support business in the mid-market. In these businesses it is not uncommon to find the Finance Director (or other senior board member) responsible for IT. Gavin calls them “The Quasi IT Director” ® and typically they become reliant on junior IT staff or third-party IT support companies for strategic advice, which may not always be in the best interest of the company.

Gavin and his team are completely independent and can provide advice that is based around your business and specific requirements. Typical services include:

  • IT reviews to identify areas where IT might be causing issue around the business
  • Strategic IT advice, to help get the best out of your IT, both now and in the future
  • Application procurement support (specification and selection) and,
  • Outsource IT director services.

Gavin also supports the MHA MacIntyre Hudson Corporate Finance Mergers and Acquisitions teams by providing IT due diligence on both the buy and sell side.

Alicia Crisp

Partner

Alicia is a partner in the London office, managing a portfolio of clients. Alicia joined the firm as a graduate trainee at the North London office in 2007, qualifying as a chartered accountant in 2010. Alicia’s key focus is working with owner managed businesses across London and south Hertfordshire, from new start-ups to long standing companies. 

Alicia’s clients are a range of shapes and sizes from sole traders to £10m turnover groups, spanning a number of industries – including technology, construction and financial services. She ensures that compliance needs are efficiently dealt with to allow time to identify opportunities to support clients as they grow. Recent special projects include providing a detailed support service to a client selling a division of their business, creating forecasts and reporting systems for clients looking to grow their business and assisting clients with transitions to cloud based software. In addition to working with owner managed businesses, Alicia looks after a portfolio of Academy Schools in the area.

As well as her client facing work, Alicia takes a keen interest in internal staff recruitment and development, including supporting school leavers and graduates with advice on applying for roles within accountancy and putting together CVs. Outside of work Alicia enjoys being active – skiing, climbing and hiking all feature regularly, depending on the season.
