Further & Higher Education

Specialist Accountants for Further & Higher Education Providers

The World of Education is fundamentally changing the way in which Further and Higher Education institutions are delivering services to their students.

The sector has never faced such ever-changing priorities, and the role of audit and accountancy has changed from being wholly legislative to a government requirement for adherence only to external audit compliance. Internal audit is left to the discretion of governors and senior management, creating a perfect storm that can leave institutions vulnerable.

Our Partners and specialist education team are leading authorities in the sector and act for Further and Higher Education providers all across the UK.

We have developed a detailed understanding of the challenges facing Further and Higher Education settings today and developed a unique assessment approach which:

  • Challenges the core assumptions of the institution and focus upon the business-critical resource, namely cash
  • Generates a Financial Business Risk Assessment (FBRA) with an assurance model and associated recommendations
  • Tests what the institution has in place and enhancements for the future.

Our Education team are experienced in working with leadership teams in colleges and universities, supporting them by providing audit, accounting and strategic services and advice.

More than ever before, you need to operate in a flexible and agile way. It is essential to have clear sight of your institution’s financial future, together with intuitive strategies to mitigate challenges.

Risk management in Higher Education

Our FBRA (Financial Business Risk Assessment) programme has been designed specifically for UK educational institutions to ensure they have the agility and security they need.

When creating this programme, we asked three simple questions:

  • How aware are educational institutions of their true financial and business position?
  • Have educational institutions fully assessed the future from an objective perspective?
  • Is the planning that is in place (or planned), in order to future-proof the organisation, robust and achievable?

MHA MacIntyre Hudson is an expert in providing effective solutions and our Financial Business Risk Assessment programme for educational establishments is no exception.

We know funding and cash are under pressure. Output and impact are the keys. Our team will deliver a detailed assessment of your fiscal status, including thorough stress testing with an assurance model and detailed recommendations contained in a comprehensive report. We will also help you to take the critical decisions to achieve your financial security.
