International Business Tax

The international business tax world is full of scary acronyms, from BEPS to DPT, and one where the slightest slip can cost you millions. As part of the Baker Tilly International network, we have colleagues in more than 140 countries ready to help you navigate the complexity of doing business across borders, so you can focus on running your business.

Global tax compliance outsourcing

Our local specialists bring a thorough knowledge of tax law and practice in their country. They have extensive experience guiding businesses safely through their compliance obligations and a proactive approach to giving constructive advice to businesses regarding maximising available tax reliefs and opportunities. Our network can help you to effectively manage your corporate tax liabilities across jurisdictions.

Transfer pricing

Transfer pricing has become the single most important issue in the field of international taxes. Our global transfer pricing specialists work together to deliver global solutions for clients that protect against the threats posed by transfer pricing legislation.

  • Advising group-wide transfer pricing strategy.
  • Advising on appropriate pricing for transactions with affiliates.
  • Advising on the documentation of a group's transfer pricing policies.
  • Defending a group's transfer pricing policies to national tax authorities.
  • Where appropriate, negotiating Advance Pricing Agreements (APAs) with tax authorities.

BEPS and anti-avoidance

Our international tax team can help you to identify immediate risks following the introduction of local legislation enacting some of the OECD’s Base Erosion and Profit Shifting (BEPS) recommendations, and potential remediation to assist companies to manage and develop their tax and business strategy.

The UK has already introduced diverted profits tax (DPT), hybrid mismatch rules, fixed ratio interest deductions and country-by-country reporting. We have a dedicated team that can help you to make sure you comply with the myriad regulations now in force.

Cross-border transactions

Our international tax specialists have vast experience counselling businesses through the tax implications of change, activity and growth including:

  • Group restructuring
  • Acquisitions and disposals
  • Domestic and cross-border mergers
  • Deal structuring
  • Tax due diligence on acquisition targets
  • Post-transaction integration.

Supply chain management

A value chain tax review provides clarity to management, tax authorities, and other stakeholders, helping them to understand how the value creation is aligned with the tax profile of a group. We can:

  • Analyse potential exit charges on the movement of assets.
  • Establish transfer prices that are defensible, and that give each activity an arm’s length return.
  • Achieve the right level of substance to manage permanent establishment risks.
  • Manage sales taxes and customs duties.
