Elaine has more than 35 years experience in the accountancy profession latterly as owner of Shoesmiths Chartered Accountants prior to joining Macintyre Hudson LLP as a full partner following its merger in April 2016.
Elaine specialises in accounts, audit and advisory services for corporate owner managed businesses and foreign subsidiaries. Elaine has worked with a wide variety of businesses over her career including manufacturing, engineering, IT and renewables.
Elaine qualified initially with Robson Rhodes in Birmingham and then joined their London office. After which a spell as a management accountant for an international logistics company gave her the necessary experience and background to then set up Shoesmiths Chartered Accountants which she ran successfully for 25 years . Clients ranged from high tech start ups to growing established SMEs.
Her experience and knowledge has enabled her to provide advice on more specialised areas including taxation across all sectors , taxation lead restructuring, management buy-outs , inheritance tax and succession planning. Doug has over 20 years experience as a specialist High Net Wealth Adviser. His areas of expertise include Pre and Post retirement planning, IHT mitigation, investing for income or capital growth via bespoke portfolios and pension transfer work including Defined Benefit schemes.
As well as being a level 4 adviser, he also holds the prestigious IMC qualification (Investment Management Certificate) which is unusual for an IFA.

Alison is a Chartered Tax Adviser who works closely with her clients across the firm to manage the complexities of VAT and to identify VAT savings and opportunities.
As VAT Partner she has worked with the firm for 15 years and previously worked for Reuters, Deloitte and started her VAT career with HMRC. Alison and her team aim to provide commercial solutions to the issues facing our clients, who are from all types of sectors.
