With less than six months until the April 2020 deadline for the private sector rollout of IR35, big companies such as Barclays are taking pre-emptive action, imposing a blanket ban on contractors working through Personal Service Companies (PSCs), which is contrary to the intent of HMRC’s new IR35 rules.

With over thirty years dedicated service to MHA MacIntyre Hudson, Brendan has worked with a wide range of businesses including quoted companies, as well as owner managed businesses from a large cross section of sectors. His primary focus is on business assurance where he believes audits should provide value and a platform for good advice.
Brendan's aim is to understand a client's goals and help them achieve them. He believes that everyone is capable of change and the key is to create or uncover the desire to do so.

Alyson is a specialist Education and Not for Profit Audit partner. She joined MHA MacIntyre Hudson in 2018 as part of the firm’s sector growth strategy. She advised the first converter academy in Kent and has gone on to advise the first academy PRU, special schools and those with PFI contracts assisting in the negotiation of revised funding streams to cater for special business cases.
She was previously head of the academies team at Williams Giles, where she started the academies practice when the first schools began to convert following the 2010 legislation. Prior to specialising in education, Alyson has enjoyed a career spanning Corporate Finance, Not for Profit audit, and Corporate Recovery. Alyson works with a number of academy training providers to deliver lectures on academy finance and management, and is also regularly asked to chair academy conferences and write articles for the sector.
Alyson was Chair of the Institute of Directors (IoD) in Kent between 2003 and 2007 and has held a number of roles at national level in the organisation. She has served several terms on the ruling Council, and Chaired the Membership Committee and acted as Deputy Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee between 2010 and 2017. She has a particular interest in governance in the Not for Profit sector and is currently serving on a policy sub committee of the IoD in this area.Get in touch with Alyson Howard
Georgina joined the firm in 2008 and was promoted to Partner in 2009. She is both a licensed Insolvency Practitioner and registered Fixed Charge Receiver. She manages a number of distressed properties. Her main focus across all her appointments is to provide the best possible return to charge-holders/ creditors. Her experience stretches across various industries and she also has a portfolio comprising of complex IVAs and bankruptcies and numerous insolvent liquidations, Solvent reconstructions and liquidations, CVAs and Administrations.
She is a member of R3, the IPA and NARA and sits on the IPA Education Committee.

Alicia is a partner in the London office, managing a portfolio of clients. Alicia joined the firm as a graduate trainee at the North London office in 2007, qualifying as a chartered accountant in 2010. Alicia’s key focus is working with owner managed businesses across London and south Hertfordshire, from new start-ups to long standing companies.
Alicia’s clients are a range of shapes and sizes from sole traders to £10m turnover groups, spanning a number of industries – including technology, construction and financial services. She ensures that compliance needs are efficiently dealt with to allow time to identify opportunities to support clients as they grow. Recent special projects include providing a detailed support service to a client selling a division of their business, creating forecasts and reporting systems for clients looking to grow their business and assisting clients with transitions to cloud based software. In addition to working with owner managed businesses, Alicia looks after a portfolio of Academy Schools in the area.
As well as her client facing work, Alicia takes a keen interest in internal staff recruitment and development, including supporting school leavers and graduates with advice on applying for roles within accountancy and putting together CVs.
