Our two Kent offices work very closely together with flexibility across both our Maidstone and Canterbury offices to meet the needs of the clients and to support colleagues. Our staff members are friendly, supportive and always willing to help each other. They work as a team and have an active social life, organising regular get-togethers and outings.

Our offices vary in design, but both reflect MHA MacIntyre Hudson’s historic roots and clear focus on the future. Maidstone is a modern, open plan office in the centre of a lively town. The layout of the office means that the teams naturally collaborate effectively, and it is easy to approach anyone with questions. Our office in Canterbury is a recently refurbished, stately looking townhouse within walking distance of the city centre. Lunchtimes can be spent exploring Canterbury’s many winding paths and charming cafes.

With specialists across sectors such as Education, Not for Profit, Healthcare, Manufacturing and Construction, as well as services such as Private Tax, Indirect Tax and Human Capital Advisory, we offer our private and corporate clients the highest level of expertise and service. Due to Kent’s easy transport links to Paris and as a key UK gateway to trading in Europe, many of our clients have international interests and we look forward to continuing our global focus.

We have grown significantly over the last five years and now number nearly 100 people across both offices, ranging from secretaries and support staff to trainees, managers and Partners. Claire Underhill

Business Services Manager

Claire joined MHA MacIntyre Hudson in December 2018 following a merger of her previous firm, which was a Kent based practice of a top 15 firm of accountants.

She has over 20 years’ experience within the accounting industry, predominately working with SMEs. Claire has joined the firm as a Business Service Manager assisting clients with the preparation and review of Financial Statements, Corporation Tax, VAT and payroll.

Additionally, Claire has helped setup and implement internal systems to assist in the financial processes and the overall internal functions of the business to improve efficiency, both within her own firm and on behalf of clients.

In her spare time Claire enjoys spending time with her family and friends and is a member of her local netball team.

Mark Minus

Partner

Mark has over 30 years experience in the profession providing compliance and business support advice to a diverse portfolio of clients consisting of owner managed businesses ranging from start ups to medium sized groups.  He also acts for a number of charities. 

He has a deep understanding of his clients' affairs and delivers a quality service, ensuring that his clients understand the figures or advice they are presented with. 

His portfolio has a broad sector coverage and Mark is also a member of the firm’s Professional Practices Sector Group having extensive experience in SAR Audits and Regulation for Solicitor clients. 

He is also a member of the firm’s Transport and Logistics Sector Group acting for a range of haulage companies in Kent. 

Outside of work Mark enjoys spending time with his wife and four sons together with a keen interest in carpentry, architecture and design.  He is also a member of the Folkestone Rugby Club.

Martin Pooley

TOMS VAT Consultant

Martin specialises in the Tour Operators’ Margin Scheme for VAT (TOMS). This is the special VAT scheme which saves tour operators from having to register in every Member State where they send clients.

He joined the firm in 2019 and is passing on his TOMS expertise to the VAT team in Kent led by Sue Rathmell.

Martin was previously an independent TOMS consultant for 27 years, acting for 500 operators over that time. Before that he was a tax partner at KPMG after training with PricewaterhouseCoopers in London.

Stuart Chipperfield

Tax Director

Stuart is a Chartered Tax Advisor and has been with MHA MacIntyre Hudson since 2013, he has worked within private client tax for over 16 years.

Having started his career with HM Revenue & Customs he has gained useful insight into ‘the other side of the fence’. Stuart has particular experience helping clients involved in the healthcare, legal and property sectors deal with their Income Tax, Inheritance Tax and Capital Gains Tax issues. He also advises individuals on residence and domicile issues including the use of Trust structures.

Stuart prides himself on his attentive and friendly demeanour which he believes helps build trusting and long lasting relationships with his clients.

Outside of work Stuart is a keen cricketer and is actively involved in the running of his local club.
