Life at the Maidstone office

 

Our two Kent offices work very closely together with flexibility across both our Maidstone and Canterbury offices to meet the needs of the clients and to support colleagues. Our staff members are friendly, supportive and always willing to help each other. They work as a team and have an active social life, organising regular get-togethers and outings.

Our offices vary in design, but both reflect MHA MacIntyre Hudson’s historic roots and clear focus on the future. Maidstone is a modern, open plan office in the centre of a lively town. The layout of the office means that the teams naturally collaborate effectively, and it is easy to approach anyone with questions. Our office in Canterbury is a recently refurbished, stately looking townhouse within walking distance of the city centre. Lunchtimes can be spent exploring Canterbury’s many winding paths and charming cafes.

With specialists across sectors such as Education, Not for Profit, Healthcare, Manufacturing and Construction, as well as services such as Private Tax, Indirect Tax and Human Capital Advisory, we offer our private and corporate clients the highest level of expertise and service. Due to Kent’s easy transport links to Paris and as a key UK gateway to trading in Europe, many of our clients have international interests and we look forward to continuing our global focus.

We have grown significantly over the last five years and now number nearly 100 people across both offices, ranging from secretaries and support staff to trainees, managers and Partners. James Dickman

Accounts Manager

James started with MHA MacIntyre Hudson in 2009 where he completed his training and has worked his way up to Accounts Manager. James is a specialist in the Healthcare sector and assist his clients with a variety of services, including:

  • Partnership and sole trader accounts and tax returns
  • VAT returns, including partial exemption calculations
  • Preparing superannuation certificates for the NHS pension scheme
  • Bookkeeping and management accounts
  • Due diligence and reviews of GP practices for merger and profitability purposes, including for local CCGs
  • Implementing, training and advising on cloud accounting solutions for all organisations nationally

James qualified as a chartered accountant in 2014 and is a part of the ICAEW Healthcare Sector Group. He looks after a large number of GP practices and a wide variety of medical consultants mainly in the Kent and London, but works with clients both nationally and internationally too.

James is a Xero certified advisor and a certified QuickBooks Online advisor which he uses as part of his nominated Digital Solutions contact role for the firm.

In James’ spare time he enjoys playing snooker and pool as well as a round of golf and watching the Formula 1.

Donna Dallas

Senior Manager

Donna started work as a trainee accountant in 2006, having completed a degree in accounting and finance at the University of Kent. After qualifying in 2011, and following the merger of the partnership she previously worked for, Donna has progressed from Supervisor through to Senior Manager. 

She has her own portfolio of clients specialising in small to medium sized owner managed businesses in a range of different industries. She has built up a good rapport with her clients and prides herself on maintaining long standing relationships, having worked with a number of clients for over ten years.

Donna is methodical in her approach and likes to help clients to achieve their goals. She provides ongoing financial advice to her clients aiding them to interpret financial information that can influence their strategic development, in addition to general compliance and preparation of quarterly / annual financial statements.

Frances James

Partner

Frances joined MHA MacIntyre Hudson in December 2018 following the merger of the Kent offices of Haines Watts. She was a partner in the previous practice for over 20 years.

She advises owner managed businesses in a number of sectors, including professional services, printing, agriculture and staff recruitment.

Her hobbies include church bellringing, where she assists in training new recruits, and hill walking.

David Lockitt

Manager

David joined in December 2018 following the merger of his previous firm, he has joined us as a manager and adds further expertise to our Healthcare team.

He is currently spending an increasing amount of time advising clients with moves on to cloud based software in order to help them find more time to cope with the increasing demands being placed on them by the NHS. David firmly believes that providing clients with this extra time is fundamental to keeping a balanced life.

In his spare time David is Treasurer for his local district scout group, he also spends (too much) time playing golf (currently off single figures) or out walking his dog.  Occasionally spending time with his wife and two girls.
