Life at the Northampton office

 

Best known for its historic shoemaking industry and subsequent world-renowned musical Kinky Boots, Northampton possesses a unique charm and cultural legacy. The surrounding countryside is some of the most beautiful in England and there are miles of enchanting walks, scenic country parks and acres of ancient woodland to discover. Based at The Lakes, 2 miles to the south-east of Northampton town centre, the office is easy to get to and is only a short walk from the stunning River Nene - perfect for a relaxing lunchtime stroll. Alternatively, hop on the bus provided by the office once a week and enjoy a coffee or some shopping in the town centre.

As the second largest MHA MacIntyre Hudson office with over 80 staff members, Northampton maintains a vibrant and enterprising atmosphere. We are an open plan office to enable active communication and our teams are friendly and welcoming. We pride ourselves on our positive culture and new team members find it easy to integrate, readily forming strong relationships and lasting friendships. We are a social bunch and frequently organise charity events, pizza lunches, fully-funded socials including our May Ball, and in-office film screenings.

Sarah Major

Tax Director

Sarah is a Tax Director who joined MHA MacIntyre  Hudson in January 2017. She originally qualified as a Chartered Accountant and then decided to specialise in tax. She is a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation and has a broad range of experience with Owner Managed Businesses.

This enables her to advise across all aspects of business taxation. This includes exit and remuneration planning which also considers the individuals personal tax planning objectives including capital gains tax and inheritance tax planning.

Sarah is also a member of the Society of Estate and Trusts Practitioners which helps her to advise clients on the benefits of trusts and to assist them with probate administration and estate planning.

Alison Horner

Indirect Tax Partner

Alison is a Chartered Tax Adviser who works closely with her clients across the firm to manage the complexities of VAT and to identify VAT savings and opportunities.

As Indirect Tax Partner she has worked with the firm for 15 years and previously worked for Reuters, Deloitte and started her VAT career with HMRC. Alison and her team aim to provide commercial solutions to the issues facing our clients, who are from all types of sectors. In particular Alison enjoys advising on property and construction matters and international trade.

Rachel Nutt

Head of Renewable & Sustainable Energy, Tax Partner

Rachel is a Chartered Tax Adviser, a specialist in providing tax planning advice to entrepreneurs' businesses. Rachel is a firm believer that to provide advice that is effective she has to really understand her client's business, personal goals and aspirations.

As well as heading up the firms Renewable and Sustainable Energy Sector, Rachel has extensive experience in Motor, Agriculture and Manufacturing & Engineering sectors.  Much of Rachel's time is spent on transactional work both in the UK and internationally.

She re-joined MacIntyre Hudson's tax department in September 2005 after a period working with a finance house in London, providing sophisticated tax planning products to high net worth individuals and large owner managed businesses. Out of the office Rachel is quick to swap her heels for boots and spend time with her horse.

Leigh Carr

Tax Manager

Leigh is a tax manager in our healthcare sector and joined MHA Macintyre Hudson from Grant Thornton UK LLP.

Leigh started his career in tax 25 years ago at HM Revenue & Customs (Inspector of taxes at that time) before moving in to practice in 1994.

Leigh has 4 children which keeps him very busy but has still found time to run over 45 marathons and ultra marathons.
