Life at the Peterborough office

 

Our Peterborough office recently relocated to accommodate the considerable growth we have experienced in recent years. The tranquil environment of Lynch Wood, just outside the city centre, is perfect for lunchtime walks by the River Nene and towards Ferry Meadows. The area has a rich and varied history demonstrated by the beautiful architectural focal point of Peterborough Cathedral at the heart of the city. As the fastest growing city in the UK, there is lots to do including visiting Queensgate shopping center, Key Theatre, multiple restaurants and pubs and the excellent Showcase Cinema. Peterborough is surrounded by idyllic, chocolate-box villages and picturesque countryside and has an unusually mixed economy. While the city provides a hub for light industry, logistics and digital media, the surrounding arable land supports a thriving agricultural sector. 

The office is designed with teamwork and communication in mind and has a modern, open plan layout. We have around 54 members of staff of a range of ages and expertise which ensures a dynamic and innovative atmosphere underpins our extensive knowledge. Our staff members are friendly and welcoming, and the teams regularly cooperate to ensure that their service is of the highest standard. It is easy to assimilate into the office and to participate in the regular social events and outings. We even enjoy lunchtime yoga sessions to ensure that everyone finds their Zen!

We work with a range of clients from successful local companies to global multinational corporations. Due to the surrounding rural landscape and local economy, one of our areas of specialist expertise is in helping agricultural businesses achieve their professional goals.

Adam Ferro

Audit Manager

Adam is an Audit Manager who has a number of years experience in Audit and Accounts since joining the firm as a school leaver following his A levels in 2005. Working predominantly on Stuart Manning’s audit portfolio, Adam has experience on a wide range of clients from owner managed businesses, to charities and academies.

Adam has a keen eye for detail and often recommends system and process improvements to clients as a result of overseeing their audit from start to finish whilst ensuring that they meet their statutory requirements.

Adam enjoys keeping up to date with the latest audit and accounting standards and is a key office contact in relation to the adherence to new and updated legislation.

Michael Blackledge

Senior Tax Manager

With over 25 years working in tax practice, Mike, a Chartered Tax Adviser, has gained a wealth of experience working with individuals, owner managed businesses and corporates from different sectors. This experience allows him to offer solutions and advice in a practical, easy to understand manner ensuring clients’ needs are met whilst protecting their interests. Mike has considerable experience dealing with HMRC, from regular compliance enquiries to ones dealt with under COP9 (fraud).  Mike oversees the corporation tax team, in addition to presenting and advising clients on buy to let tax issues.

Francis Hudson

Tax Director

Francis joined MHA MacIntyre Hudson as Tax Director in June 2018 bringing with him over 20 years of knowledge and experience of advising clients on a wide range of UK tax matters.

Having graduated from Cambridge University, Francis qualified at a Berkshire based firm before gaining experience at top six accountancy firms. His clients have varied in size from sole traders up to global corporations, with a special interest in corporate transactions and property matters. He uses his knowledge as both a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Tax Adviser to give his clients clear advice that meets their needs.

Francis is married to a Chartered Accountant and their young family ensures that there is never a dull moment outside of office hours.

Mandy MacKinnon

Business Solutions Manager

Mandy is an experienced chartered accountant and business strategist who excels at advising clients to overcome growth and profitability issues. As a founder member of the Firm’s Business Strategy Group, formed in 2001, Mandy has worked with a wide variety of SMEs from a range of sectors over the years. Business owners and management teams have benefitted from her help with developing robust strategic plans that have improved the value of their businesses.

Building on her experience and understanding of the needs of SMEs, Mandy has developed a successful “Understanding Finance” workshop which focusses on delivering personalised one to one or team training sessions to SMEs. These bespoke workshops offer clients a greater understanding of their own accounts and help them both in planning the strategic direction and in making the right commercial decisions for their business. The training is particularly popular with the second generation in family businesses or with new directors who are not fully confident in their ability to review financial information. Mandy believes it is not enough to just write a plan; to succeed it must be lived as well. The support she provides is geared to bridge that implementation gap.

As a member of Mindshop, a strategic leadership training organisation which operates globally, Mandy has access to a vast array of business tools and planning techniques that compliment her own training programmes. She is also an accredited growth coach with the Growth Accelerator service.
