We pride ourselves on our insight into the agricultural sector, which we have built up over many years, but we never stop learning or looking at what issues and regulations are up ahead. Our membership and involvement with agricultural organisations such as the CLA and the Institute of Agricultural Management (IAgrM) place us at the heart of the sector and enable us to remain ahead of agricultural issues and directives.

As a Chartered Tax Adviser, Carly specialises in suggesting pro-active tax strategies and solutions to business owners, in addition to advising clients on IHT, Trusts and Estates.  Upon completion of her training, Carly moved into the Agriculture sector where she has developed a keen interest in helping farming families to resolve the sensitive issue of succession.  Her thorough approach, attention to detail and creative thought process has assisted many faming families through this potentially delicate time.

Joe Spencer

Partner

Specialising in the Agriculture & Rural Business sector Joe has developed a deep understanding of the challenges facing farming businesses today. He advises clients from small family farms through to larger commercial enterprises on various issues such as diversification projects, business restructuring, succession planning and benchmarking.

His experience within the agricultural sector enables him to offer considered and insightful solutions to sometimes difficult situations. Taking time to understand not only the business structure but also the family dynamics allows Joe to fully appreciate these relationships and to factor these in when suggesting inheritance tax and other succession planning strategies.

Joe is also involved in advising businesses operating within pharmaceutical and life science sectors. In particular, assisting with tax planning and structuring, and providing a full range of compliance services.

Grace Barnett

Accounts Assistant Manager

Grace is an Accounts Assistant Manager who has a number of years experience in accountancy since joining the firm as a school leaver in 2013. Grace qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2017.

Since 2018, Grace has worked within our Agriculture team within the Peterborough office, working predominantly on Sarah Dodds’ and Joe Spencer’s portfolio’s.

Grace has experience with many owner managed businesses and family farms, and also has lots of experience using cloud accounting software such as Xero, Quickbooks Online and Sage.

Bob Trunchion

Tax Partner

Whilst Bob qualified in the audit department of a big four firm, he soon moved to their Corporation Tax Department. His move to MacIntyre Hudson has rounded off his knowledge so that he is well versed in all aspects of tax. As well as advising clients on a consultancy basis, Bob is involved in the tax training not only with MHA MacIntyre Hudson and MHA but to clients and also to many accountants and solicitors throughout the country. Whilst he is involved in training, he has appeared on national radio and television talking about tax. Bob believes that simple solutions are often the best ones with taxation.
