Having operated in the Agricultural & Rural sector for many years, MHA MacIntyre Hudson's clients range from family farms, operating in the livestock, dairy, arable and top fruit sectors, through to large commercial Agri businesses.

We also advise a variety of farming sector suppliers - particularly manufacturers and providers of agri-chemicals and plant & machinery - and act for a number of rural related businesses within the leisure & tourism and property sectors.

Frances James

Partner

Frances joined MHA MacIntyre Hudson in December 2018 following the merger of the Kent offices of Haines Watts. She was a partner in the previous practice for over 20 years.

She advises owner managed businesses in a number of sectors, including professional services, printing, agriculture and staff recruitment.

Her hobbies include church bellringing, where she assists in training new recruits, and hill walking.

Colin Mills

Partner

Colin has been a partner of MHA MacIntyre Hudson  since 2013  following  the merger of his previous partnership, in which he had been a partner since  1986.  Operating throughout the Kent region, Colin advises a wide range of owner managed companies, high profile family businesses and high net worth individuals. 

He approaches every case he deals with as unique and focuses on helping to solve problems and spot opportunities, whether they are financial or organisational, so that his clients can move forward in a more positive way.

Colin has extensive experience in the Not for Profit Sector, providing an advisory role to a significant number of Not for Profit clients. He is well aware of the issues that charities face on a day-to-day basis and works closely with charity clients to help them through the changing economic and regulatory climate. In his capacity as trustee to a significant local charity, Colin also has direct experience of  trustees’ duties, responsibilities and challenges.

Colin has a keen interest in the Agricultural Sector and a large number of his clients are agricultural based, being  top fruit, arable, dairy and livestock  farming and other  rural businesses.  Colin recognises that these clients face an ever changing and volatile environment and is continuously looking at how he can improve client’s situations and keep them abreast of changes and that affect the Agricultural Sector.

As a result of Colin’s interest in the Agricultural Sector he is utilising his advisory skills to develop the Renewables and Sustainable Energy Sector of the Kent region’s operation and is helping grow a portfolio of clients in this sector.  He appreciates that each business has the common aspiration of maximising the potential that this niche market offers.

In addition to advising owner-managed businesses on strategic matters and tax planning, he is fully involved in all aspects of a client's business which includes audit, accounts, tax compliance.

Sarah Dodds

Sarah’s strength lies in helping ambitious, owner-managers to reach their goals. Her clients not only benefit from the emphasis she puts on having the right management information upon which to base decisions but her ability to summarise their position and make timely and appropriate recommendations. With expertise gained in the Manufacturing sector, Sarah helps manufacturing businesses with all aspects of strategic and financial matters – guiding them through the complex issues that require the right decisions.

The commercial world plays a major role in Sarah’s life but being married to a farmer and living on a mixed farm, has afforded her the opportunity to understand and appreciate the agricultural sector at first hand.  As head of the firm’s Agriculture & Rural Business sector, Sarah has brought her considerable personal agricultural knowledge to this sector, enabling her to develop an insight into farming & agricultural businesses not usually available to other accountancy professionals.

Sarah leads the Cloud Accounting Sector for the firm. With her dedicated Cloud team, Sarah advises clients on the best way forward using the various software packages and Apps available.

Bob Trunchion

Tax Partner

Whilst Bob qualified in the audit department of a big four firm, he soon moved to their Corporation Tax Department,  His move to MacIntyre Hudson in 1985 has rounded off his knowledge so that he is well versed in all aspects of tax. As well as advising clients on a consultancy basis, Bob is mainly involved in heading up tax training both in the firm and in our specialist training arm (www.mhasllp.com). He also spearheads the firm’s offering in training non financial managers and directors in understanding accounts (Financial Training Services)  on all manner of transactions. Whilst he is deeply involved in training, he has appeared on national radio and television talking about IHT. Bob believes that simple solutions are often the best ones with taxation.
