Healthcare

The healthcare sector is in a constant state of flux - even in private practice, compliance needs are huge. Our specialist healthcare accountants have been working with GPs, dental practices, care homes and other healthcare professionals for many years, providing business management, accountancy and taxation services. Our Leicester and Maidstone offices are members of the Association of Independent Specialist Medical Accountants (AISMA).

How we can help

Each area of the healthcare profession has subtle differences in their accounting and advisory requirements; our team understands those differences and advises accordingly.

GP practices

We can help by providing:

  • Regular management and year-end accounting
  • Tax compliance and planning
  • Advice on alternative business structures
  • Specialist capital allowance claims for surgeries
  • Superannuation certificates
  • NHS pension reports and projections for annual allowance and lifetime allowance planning
  • Planning of partner drawings and cash flow management
  • Succession planning, partnership changes and property ownership
  • Software selection and training

As well as acting for the practice, we can also provide guidance to individual GPs in relation to tax planning and wealth management.

If  you’re a locum or salaried GP, a hospital consultant or doctor, we can assist with your very specific accounting needs:

  • Annual accounting and tax returns
  • Assistance with NHS pension returns
  • Advice on tax deductible expenses and requirements around business record-keeping
  • Retrospective tax claims of professional and examination fees
  • NHS pension reports and projections
  • Alternative business structures including limited companies

Dentists

Our team can support you with:

  • Regular management and year-end accounting
  • Tax compliance and planning
  • Alternative business structures, including limited companies
  • Capital allowances planning for surgery equipment
  • Specialist capital allowance claims for existing and new-build surgeries
  • Superannuation annual reconciliation reports
  • NHS pension reports and projections for Annual Allowance and Lifetime Allowance planning.
  • Practice acquisitions and disposals

NHS Pensions

For some members, the NHS Pension Scheme will be one of their most valuable assets. Due to its complex nature, it is helpful to have a specialist adviser that understands the intricacies of the scheme. Our experienced medical accountants can help you make sense of your personal situation and advise you on what to do to safeguard and maximise your financial future.

If you need help or more information take a look at our NHS Pensions page.

Care home owners

A care home is a highly specialised business, with distinct accounting needs. We have experts in-house who can help you with:

  • Annual accounts, payroll, bookkeeping and management reporting
  • Tax planning and business structure review
  • Personal, partnership and corporation tax returns, and partial exemption VAT calculations

Let us look after the accounts, tax and business strategy, so you can focus on looking after your patients. Get in touch for a consultation.
