Our specialist motor team provides up-to-date, accurate, concise and tailored advice, services and solutions to many UK dealer groups. Our specialists are trusted advisers to many motor dealer groups, supporting them on aspects of ECOS, PAYE, capital allowance and corporate finance.

With a proactive approach and extensive knowledge of the industry, we provide thought leadership and remain at the forefront of key issues facing the sector. We also run sector-specific and focused update events, such as the MHA Motor FD Forum and the Berkhamstead Motor Club.   • Audit and assurance: we act as auditors for 75+ motor dealers and lease businesses including Sturgess, Pentagon, Delgarth and Vanarama.
  • Tax planning and compliance: we are tax advisers to 100+ motor dealers and manufacturers, including many Top 50 dealer groups.
  • Capital Allowances (CA): we have the UK’s leading motor CA specialist in our team maximising allowances on dealers’ historic and current property acquisitions and expenditures.
  • Transactional tax advice and exit planning: ensuring the right operational and entity structure for our clients, including their trading and property interests.
  • Shareholder wealth and inheritance tax planning: tax-efficient extraction of wealth for dealership owners.
  • Employment taxes and company cars: supporting you with issues such as car averaging, establishing employee car ownership schemes, worker status, and travel and subsistence.
  • VAT planning and compliance: working with you on cases of HMRC litigation, partial exemption, finance and insurance income, Motability, dealer discounts and other specific motor VAT issues
  • Strategic and corporate finance support: sale and acquisition, restructuring, refinancing, operational and business strategy reviews to help your dealership grow.
  • Business support: providing health checks, deal file and month-end reporting, and other process reviews, including FCA and cyber security.

Tom joined MacIntyre Hudson in May 2012 as a trainee, completing his AAT and ACA qualifications and quickly progressing to his current position of Manager.

Tom currently works on a diverse portfolio of clients, specialising in audit and accounts. His clients range from large groups to SMEs and has been heavily involved in both the Construction & Real Estate and Academy sectors since his appointment.

Tom is passionate about providing a great service and enjoys working closely with his clients. This has developed great working relationships with his existing client base.

James Lawson

Partner

James joined MacIntyre Hudson Corporate Finance in the London City office in 2015. He has approaching ten years’ experience  in lead advisory M&A and  focuses on advising entrepreneurs and management teams to develop and execute strategies to create, preserve, or extract shareholder value for companies in the £1m to £100m value bracket.

James has wide ranging M&A lead advisory deal-making experience across a variety of industry sectors on an international basis, with a particular interest in software and technology, media, healthcare and business services sectors. 

James completed an Executive MBA (Distinction) from Cass Business School in 2015, and also holds a Master’s degree in International Business and Law from the University of Sydney, as well as an LLB in Law and French.

Andreas joined MacIntyre Hudson in August 2012 as a trainee after graduating from the University of Nottingham with a degree in Finance, Accounting and Management.

Andreas currently works on a varied and diverse portfolio of clients, specialising in audit and accounts. His clients range from large groups to SMEs and has been heavily involved in the Construction sector since his appointment.

Andreas has built a good rapport with his clients and prides himself on maintaining long standing relationships and adding value at every opportunity.

Matthew Morris

Personal Tax Manager

Prior to joining MHA MacIntyre Hudson in July 2015, Matthew worked for Bloomer Heaven Ltd for 3 years and Farmiloes LLP, where he qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2001.  He has many years of experience within the profession and has acquired a depth of knowledge of Midland businesses across a broad range of industry types.   Matthew specialises in tax for owner- managed businesses and high net worth individuals.  Matthew’s wealth of knowledge and experience can ensure that clients get proactive high level tax advice tailored to fit their specific needs.

Matthew is married with 2 young boys, and enjoys spending as much of his spare time outdoors.   Matthew is keen racing cyclist and enjoys competing in road and circuit races
