Our specialist motor team provides up-to-date, accurate, concise and tailored advice, services and solutions to many UK dealer groups. Our specialists are trusted advisers to many motor dealer groups, supporting them on aspects of ECOS, PAYE, capital allowance and corporate finance.

With a proactive approach and extensive knowledge of the industry, we provide thought leadership and remain at the forefront of key issues facing the sector. We also run sector-specific and focused update events, such as the MHA Motor FD Forum and the Berkhamstead Motor Club.   • Audit and assurance: we act as auditors for 75+ motor dealers and lease businesses including Sturgess, Pentagon, Delgarth and Vanarama.
  • Tax planning and compliance: we are tax advisers to 100+ motor dealers and manufacturers, including many Top 50 dealer groups.
  • Capital Allowances (CA): we have the UK’s leading motor CA specialist in our team maximising allowances on dealers’ historic and current property acquisitions and expenditures.
  • Transactional tax advice and exit planning: ensuring the right operational and entity structure for our clients, including their trading and property interests.
  • Shareholder wealth and inheritance tax planning: tax-efficient extraction of wealth for dealership owners.
  • Employment taxes and company cars: supporting you with issues such as car averaging, establishing employee car ownership schemes, worker status, and travel and subsistence.
  • VAT planning and compliance: working with you on cases of HMRC litigation, partial exemption, finance and insurance income, Motability, dealer discounts and other specific motor VAT issues
  • Strategic and corporate finance support: sale and acquisition, restructuring, refinancing, operational and business strategy reviews to help your dealership grow.
  • Business support: providing health checks, deal file and month-end reporting, and other process reviews, including FCA and cyber security.

John Goodson

Insurance Broker

John is a Director of Insurance Services Surrey, appointed by MHA MacIntyre Hudson to look after the insurance needs of SME’s, Corporates, Not-for-Profit entities and Private Clients since 2012.

John joined Insurance Services Surrey in 2009 having previously worked as the Corporate Client Services Director of a national financial services firm. John qualified as an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute in 2004.

In his leisure time, John can often be found kayaking along rivers, canals and the South Coast.

Colin O’Kane

HR Consultant

Colin has over 13 years’ experience in the HR field having worked in the Financial Services, Telecommunications, Retail and Airline sectors. He joined MHA Macintyre Hudson in June 2019 and is a HR Generalist qualified as an Associate CIPD member since 2004.

Colin advises a wide range of clients from across the firm on the entire spectrum of HR issues, from employment contracts and day to day people management issues including sickness, disciplinary and grievance issues to more complex projects such as redundancy exercises.

Toby joined MHA MacIntyre Hudson in August 2017. For over 25 years, Toby has specialised in working with and advising growing entrepreneurial, family and PE backed companies, International groups, and  UK subsidiaries of International parents. He has worked with clients in a diverse range of industries but has specific sector expertise in hotels, leisure and gaming, manufacturing, wholesale & distribution, and the service industry sectors.

Toby is a responsible individual for audit purposes, and has built up a reputation for providing clients with pragmatic advise not only on financial reporting matters but also on strategic business planning matters including raising finance, growth through acquisition, exit planning and business restructuring.

Away from work Toby is a mad keen Worcester Warriors rugby fan and can be found in the South Stand at Sixways at all home games, or blatting around the Worcestershire countryside in “Delilah” his Caterham Super 7 sports car.

Katherine Everitt

Restructuring & Recovery Manager

Katherine joined the firm in April 2011 and, followng three years our City office, transferred to the Restructuring and Recovery department of our Maidstone Office. She obtained the Certificate of Proficiency in Insolvency qualification in 2010. 

With over 10 years experience Katherine has built up a wealth of knowledge in dealing with various insolvency matters which include: 

  • Administration
  • Solvent Liquidations
  • Insolvent Liquidations
  • Voluntary Arrangements
  • Bankruptcy
  • LPA Receiverships.

Katherine manages a small team and runs a varied case portfolio with a wide range of clients which includes, high profile individuals, various aspects of the construction industry and charities. With her broad experience she is able to advise companies, directors and creditors of their options. 

She is also currently an Anti Money Laundering representative for the firm and on the committee for the Kent Young Professionals.
