Our specialist motor team provides up-to-date, accurate, concise and tailored advice, services and solutions to many UK dealer groups. Our specialists are trusted advisers to many motor dealer groups, supporting them on aspects of ECOS, PAYE, capital allowance and corporate finance.

  • Audit and assurance: we act as auditors for 75+ motor dealers and lease businesses including Sturgess, Pentagon, Delgarth and Vanarama.
  • Tax planning and compliance: we are tax advisers to 100+ motor dealers and manufacturers, including many Top 50 dealer groups.
  • Capital Allowances (CA): we have the UK’s leading motor CA specialist in our team maximising allowances on dealers’ historic and current property acquisitions and expenditures.
  • Transactional tax advice and exit planning: ensuring the right operational and entity structure for our clients, including their trading and property interests.
  • Shareholder wealth and inheritance tax planning: tax-efficient extraction of wealth for dealership owners.
  • Employment taxes and company cars: supporting you with issues such as car averaging, establishing employee car ownership schemes, worker status, and travel and subsistence.
  • VAT planning and compliance: working with you on cases of HMRC litigation, partial exemption, finance and insurance income, Motability, dealer discounts and other specific motor VAT issues
  • Strategic and corporate finance support: sale and acquisition, restructuring, refinancing, operational and business strategy reviews to help your dealership grow.
  • Business support: providing health checks, deal file and month-end reporting, and other process reviews, including FCA and cyber security.

Matt joined MHA MacIntyre Hudson in April 2014 as a Private Client Tax Partner.

He is a Chartered Tax Adviser, a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners and a fellow of the Association of Tax Technicians. He also trained with a Big 4 firm and has specialised in tax throughout his professional life.

Matt acts for a wide variety of private clients, and provides advice to internationally mobile and non-domiciled individuals, UK resident and domiciled persons, one time and serial entrepreneurs, professional practices and their members.  He works with offshore trustees on the structures they administer for mutual clients and with a number of private banks in the UK and overseas.

Anthony Brand

Anthony joined MHA in 2018 following the merger of Haines Watts Kent. He has been practising in Kent since 1986 and has a breadth of experience in both the healthcare and owner-managed business sectors.

He focuses on regular hands-on advice to clients to help them set and meet their objectives by identifying opportunities and potential problems.

Golf, gardening, walking and cycling are all interests – just not enough of the time!

James Mackie

Restructuring & Recovery Manager

James joined the firm at the end of 2008, just 2 months after the restructuring and recovery division of MacIntyre Hudson was founded. He obtained the Certificate of Proficiency in Insolvency in 2012 and currently manages one of three corporate insolvency teams, looking after a team of 6 with a combined portfolio of approximately 160 cases.

James is a member of the Insolvency Practitioners Association. James has worked with a wide variety of clients and situations, including:

  • Assisting with the administration of a firm of accountants with 4 offices covering North London. James assisted with the sale of the  business and the forensic examination of over 40 bank accounts.
  • Assisting with a solvent liquidation that has realised over £15 million from the sale of assets in the period of the liquidation.

David King

Partner

David is a Partner in the MHA MacIntyre Hudson financial services team responsible for audit opinions and specialising in audit and assurance services to investment businesses. 

David has over 24 years’ experience as a Chartered Accountant. Having qualified with EY in 1992, he left to work in finance roles at FCA regulated businesses, but re-joined the auditing profession in 2001 as a senior manager in EY’s Banking and Capital Markets Group. In 2007 he took up a role as head of financial control at a leading London metals broker and then in 2011 joined the audit division of a boutique firm.  That audit division was acquired by MHA MacIntrye Hudson in November 2016. 

In addition to statutory audit, David leads teams on internal control and client assets engagements.
